Llyn Y Fan Fach from Waun Llefrith
Yesterday decided on another fabulous idea (!!), to walk from Brynamman via Garreg Lwyd, Foel Fraith, Carreg Yr Ogof to Llyn y Fan Fach by climbing Waun Llefrith and then on to Picws Du, Fan Foel, negotiate the Devil's Staircase to Llyn Y Fan Fawr at ultimately to the Old Trecastle Road ! It was quite a trek, not sure exactly how much but working out by the scale on Landranger OS Map it is coming in at between 12 and 13 1/2 miles ! Was fab though, was feeling it a bit last night, especially after lugging a film body, a digital body, three lenses a tripod, all the filters, manfrotto 190 tripod, 2 litres of water, food etc was a good work out !!! Great feeling though to know that at the top, besides those people in the air (!) there was no-one else in the county of Carmarthenshire that was higher than myself, and the two mates I took, at that moment in time !
Dont' do landscapes ! , but managed to shoot a roll of Velvia 50 in my film body so can't wait to have that developed (albiet forgot the polariser !!! DOH) - does anyone know where I can get E6 / CR-56 processing done in South Wales ? Unfortunately I forgot the AGFA Isolette 120 that Sandeha Lynch has kindly let me use, gutted about that, excuse to go up again though !
The above shot was taken with my D300S and Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8D whereas the one below was taken through my Tamron SP 17-50 f/2.8. Most of the film shots were taken with my fifty as well, but am keen to get it back as I used my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 at the 16mm end on the film camera as I don't get vignetting with it at the end of the range, so it serves as a lovely 10.5mm ish prime ! Great ! The above shots were processed in CS4 with a black and white high structure layer with lowered opacity to induce more detail and a vibrance and saturation increase in the original layer to counteract it, levels also tweaked a little for more contrast. Just a shame the sky is a little uninteresting, did toy with "adding" a nicer sky ... we'll see.
So there it is, if anyone does know where I can get Velvia 50 processed I'd be very grateful ... am really keen to see how they look.

While they were inside they sounded terrifying. Now they're outside they just look very young.
